 BISHEN SINGH BEDI     ......the SARDAR of spin I think there were two deadly combinations of Spin bowling attack . The first and the most deadly one is the great Bishen Singh Bedi from one end and Chandrashekhar from another end. The second great combination was Bedi from one end and Erapalli Prasanna from other end. The important thing here is, in both the combinations B.S Bedi is common factor who was undoubtedly the best left arm spinner on almost any track on any day. B S Bedi used to superbly support to a rather expensive but clever Prasanna and more attacking Chandrashekhar. If Prasanna or Chandra used to get wickets it was mainly because batsmen had almost zero chances of scoring against the tight accurate and deceptive Bedi's bowling from the other end. This is not to underestimate skill of Chandra or Prasanna but batsmen will be willing to take chances against them as from other end Bedi would rearly give them chance to score.  I read in the news paper that number of Murders in February 2022 is zero after several years.  Nagpur has been painted as the most unsafe city in Maharashtra until recently however the superb efforts of  commissiner of police including more vigilance, targeting identified criminals with preventive actions,strict actions on illegal activities have brought down the number of murders continously and target of zero murder is achieved. The entire police force must have shown substantial urgency in discharging their duties snd assigned tasks. I think we all citizens of Nagpur should congratulate all the police persons for this achievement and start offering our best possible cooperation to them. He meticulously maintains all the scores by pasting news paper cuttings in his record books. I consider his word is the last word whenever there is any dispute regarding cricket scores. NEWS PAPER On yet another morning I picked  the news paper which was ruthlessly delivered and was lying in the front court-yard unnoticed for several hours. As usual the front page was a full page ad followed by more than half page ads on the next page which was actually the first page.. These days one has to find news even on the first page as they  almost get lost or hidden by so many  surrounding commercials.  I wonder who reads all these ads and is there really any benefit of spending so much money on them.I know  that news papers' primary income is from ads and therefore they will be always there but neither the companies  giving the ads nor the news paper companies  are bothered about how many trees are cut for producing the papers consumed by news papers. CROSSING CHAMBAL RIVER 26 th December 1995  was an extremely  chilled day with day temperature 9 degree C and poor  visibility in the morning till 10 am. We had planned to go to Pune from Faridabad by our new Car as  that was the only option left for us .There was no availability of travel tickets by rail  and air tickets prices were exorbitant. POWERFUL TOOL My advanced apologies to all the doctors who may  get rubbed inadvertantly ! Thete was a time when doctors were respected in the cities . Gone are those days now. The  Doctors were not only respected but almost worshiped in small places.That thing is also on decline. Today almost all the Doctors have become excessively dependent on various gadgets  and liberally recommend several medical tests to the patiens.The Unfortunate thing is there is perceptible degradation in the skill or ability to diagnose . Some  cannot conclude even after seeing  the reports of  several tests recommended by them. 40 years back things were different . I have a doctor friend who used to work in CGHS .
