  गावस्कर श्रेष्ठ बल्लेबाज है l One of my very close friends Kiran is the keen follower of cricket since many years. He meticulously maintains all the scores by pasting news paper cuttings in his record books. I consider his word is the last word whenever there is any dispute regarding cricket scores. Since  I was in HSSC , to be precise in 1970, I know about Kiran's  hobby and later I came to know from my father that  Kiran's father also used to maintain records of all the test matches, Kiran therefore has records from the day   India started playing Test matches. In 1971, the star cricketer Gavaskar instantly became hero of every cricket loving Indian as he arrived with a bang in his debute seriese against mighty  west Indians. We all friends who were  in college then regularly used to meet to play under arm cricket. Hardly there was any day on which we didn't discuss cricket and Sunil Gavaskar. NEWS PAPER On yet another morning I picked  the news paper which was ruthlessly delivered and was lying in the front court-yard unnoticed for several hours. As usual the front page was a full page ad followed by more than half page ads on the next page which was actually the first page.. These days one has to find news even on the first page as they  almost get lost or hidden by so many  surrounding commercials.  I wonder who reads all these ads and is there really any benefit of spending so much money on them.I know  that news papers' primary income is from ads and therefore they will be always there but neither the companies  giving the ads nor the news paper companies  are bothered about how many trees are cut for producing the papers consumed by news papers. At least 50 percent space is occupied by ads which are absolutely irrlevent and hence useless to more than 90 percent news paper readers . Well the....percentage figures quoted here  are i...
