MahaKumbh mela visit !
MahaKumbh mela visit ...
... a unique experience !
I feel extremely pleased, happy and satisfied after visiting Mahakumbh at Prayagraj. One cannot describe the sense of satisfaction after taking a holy dip at Sangam of Ganga ,Yamuna and invisible Saraswati.
Millions of people of all castes and class and of all age groups are traveling from various states by different modes of transports and had a sole common aim of taking dip on the Ghat in Ganga.. . .Some I saw walking in the groups with never ending chanting of Har har Gange, some were carrying their small infants while ,some helping their old parents. I even saw two persons on wheel chairs .
Two prominently observed things are .... nowhere I found any person having any argument and the second thing was the cleanliness observed by everyone. Yes ...India is indeed changing .
I traveled from Nagpur to Prayagraj in the taxi with my friend who is my friend since 58 years. On our way and in the hotel at Rewa where we had a night halt ,We had exchanged several things happened in our lives , as for 50 long years we were not in touch ! We also refreshed all our memories of school days when we used to meet everyday.
I had an intense desire of going to Mahakumbh and was searching for the company and the same thing was true with my friend. Our search for the companion ended when Vinod agreed to my request....and We wasted no time in finalizing our plan of visiting Mahakumbh.
The journey started on the. morning of 6 th in a very lively weather condition and we were in a picnic mood with many edible things enthusiastically packed by my wife who was feeling bad for missing the journey as she was not well .Our driver was a nice person and had all the skills to drive safely on the world class Indian roads,.Thanks to Nitin Gadkari who has led, and laid those wonderful roads . On the highway We saw vehicles from various states including Kerala,Karnataka and all parts of Maharashtra. On toll booths, petrol pumps and roadside Dhabas there was rush which was of never seen before category. Everyone was making lots of money. We hardly required 8 hours to reach to Rewa ,a place which is 500 kms away from Nagpur. We had decided not to enter in Prayagraj in the evening and planned to stay in Rewa . Rewa is known to many Nagpur people as most of the " Pandits" who are good in cooking skill and working in Nagpur are from Rewa.
After watching the first ODI on TV which was in Nagpur we had a nice dinner on the terrace of the hotel in the chilled weather. All the tourists in hotel were either going to Prayagraj or had returned from Prayagraj. We had chat with many and everyone was busy in sharing their experience. Some even advised us to start the next day's journey at 3.30 am to avoid the rush not knowing that we were there to experience it !
Next morning as usual I waked at 5 am and was disappointed when I was told that the tea can be served only after 7 am. This was rather cruel so we went outside for a morning walk and discovered a tea stall. Tea there was superb and so we had one more round of it while chatting with many persons .Every person there had already visited Mahakumbh and many either visited it more than once or planning to visit Mahakumbh again .
The journey started smoothly and not knowing what is ahead we got the news of long traffic jam from our driver's friend who started from Rewa at 4 am. The news was bad but we got it on time to make route correction. We took slightly longer route ,avoided the Jam and entered Prayagraj at around 10.30 am to face another jam. We were told this jam is because of VIP movements forcing us to cover last 20 kms in more than 2 hours. Because of constant inching we abandoned the taxi in one parking lot and started walking but within 1 km we could hire motor cycles which took us to Arel Ghat. The water was blackish but absolutely odorless and clean . We hired the boat and in the next 20 minutes we reached Triveni Sangam . The holy dip in the chilled water freshened me and with hot sun from the top and fast wind within a minute or two I was dry and was feeling fresh. So was everyone
Including my friend. The experience is unique and unforgettable.
The return journey was smooth and a call from own body of hungriness was registered by me as I had forgotten about the lunch and proper breakfast.
On our way we had dinner. We had planned to halt in the hotel at Maihar and the plan was to go to Ma Sharda temple next day morning and reach Nagpur in the evening. The traffic jams in the return journey delayed us reaching to Maihar.Everyone is making money so hotel owner happily ditched us and our reserved room was given to some other tourist . We had an option of either proceeding to Nagpur or stay in ordinary lodge . We decided to proceed to Nagpur as our driver was confidant and comfortable in night driving. While returning there was constant flow of vehicles going to Prayagraj as Saturday Sunday is convenient to tourist. The never ending constant flow of glittering vehicles towards Prayagraj baffled us and was a new experience to me.
We reached Nagpur early morning at 6.30 am with rich experience of our Mahakumbh mela visit. After washing all the"Papa karma" I am now clean from within as well !
Three things I noticed predominantly are
1 Indian people have tremendous faith in the river Ganga and any other religious places.
2 The most important persons who are helping people reach to MahaKumbh are all the drivers of various vehicles. These drivers have huge patience and unlimited stamina.
3 Maha Kumbh has definitely churned the economy of UP and bordering states.
I feel extremely satisfied and elevated after this visit

Great Narration, Raju! I felt as if I was also travelling with you guys and taking the holy dip! Thanks for the forward. This once in a lifetime event saw the greatest gathering of humanity! 400 million plus people visiting the confluence over a month is a challenge to the organisers and the UP Government. Nice to know that they successfully met this challenge! You should publish this blog in a major newspaper. I am sure they will be happy to publish! Thanks again! 🙏🙏🙏

Very well described. The boats are doing yeoman’s work by taking you to Triveni Sangam. Glad you could do it. A friend of mine from Delhi stayed in a 5 star tent near by but paid 30,000 rupees for one night.

👍👍Superbly said Rajendra, a bit longish but covering all details of your holy journey and the ultimate goal of a dip in the Holy Sangam. The water at Sangam, as I already said in response to your video, appears quite clean and clear inspite of Lakhs of people taking bath in it, may be a result of tremendous flow of the river. The arrangements too seem to be really good and praise-worthy of the UP Govt.
All in all, a true and wonderful pilgrimage by you and other crores of devotees/believers of Sanatan Dharma, 🙏🙏

RJP. Very well described !
Our Hinduism has this beauty. It touches everyone as he needs. So there are the vedas, and then the Vedanta’s. So there are the rituals, and there is the meditation. ETC.
We are indeed Blessed to be born in this beautiful land of sages and Rishi’s. And that is the reason, our 700+ years of slavery only made us stronger and the oppressors, weak.
